2018 年 Ben Lamar Gay 發行了第一張專輯《Downtown Castles Can Never Block the Sun》，據他本人說其實是一張合輯，之前的七年做了七張專輯，但是除了他自己沒有人聽到。該專輯受到 WIRE 雜誌、The Quietus、Gilles Peterson、Vinyl Factory 等當代音樂評論圈瘋狂推崇，熱愛巴西節奏、又融合 Steve Reich 的極微主義，近年和 Jeff Parker 的活躍再次展示芝加哥實驗爵士圈的深度。

2021 新專輯是疫情期間他將兒時回憶與音樂連結，延續前作概念，並將節奏昇華成信仰般的存在，希望藉由音樂作為一種靈性實踐，遺棄生活中對人類進步有害的迴路。聽起來很玄，但聆聽這張專輯並閱讀他在專輯中的精彩序言，或許能得到許多啟發，專輯中幾首重點歌曲〈Aunt Lola And The Quail〉、〈Nyuzura〉不免令人想到這是後現代版的 John Coltrane 伊斯蘭之路，或是我們終於找到一張具有積極正向內涵的唱片，讓我們足以拋棄 Radiohead 在《Kid A》中的末世景象。
